Our fellowship is one of the most versatile career paths and, in pharmacy, it can allow you to shape your dream job. Our partnership with the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) can help you access numerous tools and resources, whether or not you want to own your own pharmacy.
In particular, the Community Pharmacy Fellowship program through Kare Drug in partnership with NCPA can help you develop the skills and contacts to pursue clinical opportunities at any practice.
Although dispensing medications will continue to be the hallmark of community pharmacy, the amount of clinical care services being provided is growing rapidly and requiring more skilled professionals to establish and oversee them. We are looking for the right candidate who must be a thoughtful leader who is open to expanding scope of practice and committing to lifelong learning.
We require, along with NCPA Community Pharmacy Fellowship Program that fellows be licensed pharmacists here in NM who can dedicate at least 30 hours per week to working in the pharmacy, applying what you are learning in the virtual classroom. NCPA has partnered with the CPESN and Flip the Pharmacy to deliver 16 modules on innovative topics, from workflow management and medical billing to disease state refreshers on diabetes and asthma. The fellowship was launched in 2020 and past capstones have included expanding a medication synchronization program, starting point-of-care testing services, and working on medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder. Here at Kare Drug we strive to offer enhanced clinical services allowing the fellow to practice and learn at the top of your license.
If you are interested, we ask for a 18-month commitment and then enroll you into the next fellowship registration that happens twice per year. Over the course of enrollment, you will learn from classroom guidance, as well as expand your skillset on the job with knowledgeable pharmacists here at Kare Drug, including Owner and NCPA Vice President, Ashley Seyfarth. You can always reach out to program leads for additional help. The benefit from our fellowship is learning from the experience of leading professionals at every encounter and learning to create new clinical services for the community while networking with peers across the country, who are working toward similar goals in changing the independent community pharmacy model.
So, what is stopping you? Why wait a second to begin your future?
